Reconstruction of the Moscow Ring Railway

Moscow Ring Railway (MRR) is a railway ring constructed in the outskirts of Greater Moscow. It is a connecting link between ten significant intercity railways, extending away from the city in all directions. Since September 2016, it has been used for intracity passenger commutes, related to operation of the Moscow Metro. This has a significant effect on the layout of MRR stations.

From 2012 to 2016, the Moscow Ring Railway was adapted for internal passenger traffic that resulted in a significant revision of the Metro layout. During reconstruction, railway tracks were replaced by the new ones, capital repair of bridges was performed, electric train stops were constructed, and an additional track was laid for freight traffic. In total, 31 train stops were reconstructed.
